The AESHL Board of Directors and its member teams would like to congratulate League President Jack Casey for his recent induction into the Hockey NL Hall of Fame.

Jack Casey has been the driving force behind both the Caps Minor Hockey Association and the St. John’s Caps senior hockey club. In his role with youth hockey, he was a part of volunteer organizations that attracted a number of national and international events to St. John’s, including the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, the Canadian World Junior Training Camp, Four Nations Cup and the National Midget Telus Cup.  Most recently, Jack was one of the founding organizers of the St. John's Sr. Caps in their return to senior hockey competition.

Joining Jack in this year's induction class were two AESHL Alumni, including:

Steve Cleary played 13 seasons of senior hockey with the Flatrock Flyers and the Conception Bay Cee Bee Stars, where he was a six-time Avalon East League Defenceman of the Year, and a four-time Herder Memorial Trophy champion.

Kirby Dumaresque was a champion at multiple levels of hockey in this province, and beyond. In addition to being a part of teams that twice won St. John’s Junior Hockey League and Atlantic Junior B championships, Dumaresque also helped lead teams in St. John’s and Flatrock to four Herder Memorial Trophy titles.
