The Weekend Recap
AESHL competition kicked off last Friday at the Jack Byrne arena as the Outer Cove marines hosted the Southern Shore Breakers. In their last meeting of the regular season, the Breakers made quick work of the Marines, pocketing 3 goals in the first period, and then continuing with a 4 goal 2nd period and a 2 goal third. The Marines did manage to find the back of the net on 4 occasions, but it wasn't enough as the Southern Shore came out on top, winning 9-4

The blowout attitude continued Friday night at the CBS Arena, as the hosting CB Blues fell harshly to the Clarenville Caribous 7-3. A 4-point night from Kevin Reid, who split 2 goals and 2 assists, led the Bous to victory, while Chad Earle got up on the board twice and added an assist to further propel the win. The effort would be the Caribou's first win over the Blues this season

In the only matchup Saturday night, the CeeBee Stars came to town to visit the St. John's Caps at the Goulds Arena for their third meeting of the season. The Caps, who were now looking to reclaim the 1st place in the standings, fell short as their efforts were repelled by the visiting Stars. Both Chris Sparks and Matthew Akerman recorded a goal and an assist to lead the victory, with Michael Cole answering back the lone Caps goal in a 4-1 final.

AESHL action wrapped up Sunday night in Mobile, as the 1st place Southern Shore Breakers hosted the road trip Harbour Grace CeeBee Stars. The Breakers again came out hot, scoring the first 3 goals of the game. The CeeBee Stars did manage to gain back the momentum of their previous evening victory, getting on the board twice, but the Breakers answered back with a further goal to put the final nail in the coffin, taking home a 4-2 victory. Bobby Upshall and Andrew Brennan led the way for the Breakers, picking up a goal and an assist each, while Matthew Akerman extended to a 4-point weekend with 2 goals for the losers
