The Weekend Preview

AESHL competition this weekend gets underway at the Jack Byrne Arena tonight as the Outer Cove Marines host the CB Blues. The Marines, who lost both of last weekend's contests against the Southern Shore Breakers, are walking into tonight’s game having beat the Blues just once in their last 3 meetings. Sporting a 7-5-2 record, the Blues will have a chance to come within 2 points of the Harbour Grace CeeBee Stars in the standings, should they win. Puck drop in Torbay is set for 7:25 PM

The action continues this Saturday with 2 scheduled games on tap. The Clarenville Caribous will be in Harbour Grace for their final meeting of the regular season, while the St. John’s Caps host the Marines for their final meeting as well. The Caribous have previously played the CeeBee Stars 3 times this season, losing all 3 contests by scores of 8-5, 5-3, and 3-2. Puck drop in Harbour Grace is set for 7:30 PM, with the Caps and Marines playing just 30 minutes later. In their last meeting, despite a 3-1 lead over the Marines, the Caps would eventually give up the advantage and fall to the Outer Cove club 4-3 in the shootout. The two teams will meet for their final regular season competition at 8:00 PM in the Goulds.

The Breakers will once again cap off another week of AESHL competition when they host their final home game of the season as the CB Blues come to town. The Blues, who recently fell in a blowout 7-3 loss to the Clarenville Caribous, will be in their second contest of the weekend, with a chance of placing 20 points in the standings on the line, should they beat the Marines tonight and then the Breakers Sunday. The Southern Shore, who are now red hot on a 3-game winning streak, will be looking to advance to 27 points in the standings. Puck drop this Sunday in Mobile is 7:00 PM.
