Clarenville Caribous Step Away from 2026-27 AESHL Season

It is with great disappointment that we acknowledge the decision of the Clarenville Caribous organization to step away from competition for the 2026–27 hockey season.

The Caribous have been a proud and respected part of senior hockey in Newfoundland and Labrador for many years. Their commitment to the game, passionate fan base, and contributions to senior hockey throughout the province cannot be overlooked.

This is certainly a disappointing day for senior hockey, particularly for the players, volunteers, sponsors, and loyal supporters who have dedicated so much time and effort to the organization.

On behalf of the Avalon East Senior Hockey League, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to everyone involved with the Clarenville Caribous for their contributions to our game.

While we are saddened by this news, we remain hopeful that this is not the end of the Caribous' story and that we will once again see this proud organization return to the ice. Senior hockey is stronger when communities like Clarenville are part of it.

Moving forward, the league is working diligently to develop a revised schedule for the five remaining teams. We want to assure our players, teams, and fans that this weekend's scheduled games will proceed as originally planned, with no changes. The revised league schedule will be finalized and posted on the league's official website in the coming days. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as we work through this transition.
