Prior to the start of Game 1 of the 2022 Herder
Memorial Championship Hockey NL Senior Council handed out the Senior Hockey
Awards for the 2021-2022 season. It was
no surprise that the 1st place St. John’s Senior Caps took home most
of the hardware following a dominant 15 win and only 1 loss regular
season. The HOCKEY NL Senior Award
Winners are:
The
Evening Telegram Trophy – St. John’s Senior Caps
Presented to the championship team which
has the best winning average over the regular season.

Tuma Memorial Trophy – Kyle McGrath, St. John’s Senior Caps
Presented annually to the leading point
scorer over the regular season for teams in competing Senior A leagues.
The
Goaltenders Award – Kyle Downer, St. John’s Senior Caps
Presented annually to the goaltender in one
of the competing Senior A Leagues who has the best goals against record over
the regular season.
Albert
"PeeWee" Crane Memorial Trophy – Matthew Smith, St. John’s Senior
Caps
Presented annually to the Rookie of the
Year playing his first full season on one of the teams in a competing Senior A
League.
Howie
Clouter Memorial Trophy – Jeremy Nicholas, Southern Shore Breakers
Presented annually to the Most Gentlemanly
and Sportsmanlike Player on one of the teams in a competing Senior A League.

(Gus) Soper Memorial Award – Kyle McGrath, St. John’s Senior Caps
Presented annually to the player judged the
most valuable on one of the teams in a competing Senior A League.

Presented annually to the player judged the
