Southern Shore, NorthEast take strangle hold on series.

Both the Southern Shore Breakers and NorthEast Eagles took two games each as the East League playoffs opened up. Friday night at the SS Arena, the Bell Island team were primed to upset the regular season champion Breakers holding a 3-2 lead with less than 3 minutes to play. Dylan Sheldon would knot the score at 3 with 2:01 remaining and then Manasie Kendall scored 19 seconds later to put the Breakers in front. Steve Oates added the empty netter. Mike Chafe and Scott Mccarthy also scored. Evan Giles was superb in net stopping 52 of 56 shots. Bell Island had all their goals on the PP with Garrett Murphy scoring two and Brandon Burry with the single. At the Jack Byrne Arena, NorthEast won 4 to 1 over the 3 time defending champs to take a 1 - 0 series lead. Saturday night on Bell Island, the Breakers scored early and came out with a 6-0 victory to take a two games to none lead in the best of 5 affair. Riley Ricks with a pair, Andrew Gale, Andrew Marshall, Jerm Nicholas and Nate Morrey supplied the offence. Doug Pippy gets the shutout. On Sunday at Rogers Bussey Arena, the home team Caps filled the penalty box leading to several power plays for the NorthEast Eagles. The Eagles capiltalized and built a 5 -1 lead before the Caps scored a couple late to make it 5 - 3. Bryan Clarke, Mason Reid and Dan Caddigan all had PP goals for the Eagles. The Eagles now lead this series two games to zero and will look to close it out at home this Friday night at the Jack Byrne arena, game time 8PM. Bell Island will look to remain alive when they travel to SS this Friday for the 7:40 game in Mobile.
